First on our list was a long walk to the Barbican to see 'Radical Nature - Art and Architecture for a Changing Planet 1969-2009.' This was something I had wanted to see, as it relates to my environmental art interest, and have been collecting articles about it. I plan to write reviews on all of the galleries I visited this weekend.
We then caught the bus to the Hayward, stopping for lunch on Southbank on the way. Haywards new exhibition 'Walking in my Mind' is definately my exhibition of the year, with such a broad range of artists they brought together the subject of the artist's mind extremely well.
On Monday we visited Tate Britain and Tate Modern. I was a little let down by both galleries new exhibitions; Richard Long's Heaven and Earth at Tate Britain and Futurism at the Tate Modern. Richard Long's exhibition was dull and Futurism, although showing a great number of wonderful works, was hung rather badly and there was no flow between each room. I did enjoy reading the manifesto's and seeing a movement in art I have never studied before.
